In 2014, Mote Oo’s organisational needs assessment identified life skills and study skills as priority subjects for young adults in Myanmar. The Life Skills Project started in 2015.
We now have two books being piloted in English Language:
The first – Young Adult Success – is a self-access book about continuous learning which encourages the reader to take a look inside themselves and examine how they interact with other people. It aims for readers to have a better understanding of cognitive and emotional changes in late adolescence and to develop their own social competencies. A Myanmar language version of Young Adult Success will be available for piloting around August 2017. We will be developing and delivering workshops and trainings for teachers and civil society organisations around Young Adult Success” from June 2017.
The second book – Learning Skills – is a classroom teaching resource that looks at the skills and techniques needed to succeed in academic study. These include note-taking, time management, writing a bibliography, evaluating sources of information and working collaboratively. A second book on Research Skills is scheduled for 2018.
